Students and teachers: Win tickets to the Vimy Reception!

This just in — students who register to participate in National Capital History Day by our March 13 deadline are now eligible to win a fantastic prize, courtesy of our friends at The Vimy Foundation.

And not only does the winning student get an incredible prize, but so does his or her teacher.

Here’s how it works: The names of all students who have registered a project for National Capital History Day on or before March 13, 2015 will be put into a draw. On March 14, 2015, the NCHD steering committee will hold a random draw and select a name from those registered. That student and his or her teacher will be invited to attend the Vimy Reception on Tuesday, March 31.

You and your teacher could win a ticket to the Vimy Reception in Ottawa.

You can see lots of photos of last year’s Vimy Reception here.

The reception is being held at the Embassy of France and is hosted by the Ambassador of France to Canada, His Excellency Nicolas Chapuis.

Of course, if you don’t win, anyone who cares about Canadian history can still attend — the event is an important fundraiser for the Foundation, whose mandate is “to preserve and promote Canada’s First World War legacy as symbolized by the victory at the battle of Vimy Ridge on April 9, 1917.”

Tickets are available for purchase here.

And for more information about Vimy Ridge and its significance, be sure to see the Vimy Foundation’s website or this site from Veterans Affairs.

And don’t forget to register your project here.
