It’s National Capital History Day 2017!

Today, hundreds of Ottawa-area high school students and their teachers — plus a small army of volunteer judges, workshop leaders and Hall of History reps — will gather at Carleton University for the fourth annual National Capital History Day.

Students will have a chance to learn about Ottawa Valley step dancing, practise speaking Old English, and can take a turn at medieval swordplay  — plus a keynote address from Mark O’Neill of the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum.

It’s going to be a jam-packed day, so be sure to follow along on Twitter @OttawaHistory — and don’t forget to use #NCHD17.

We’ll post the final results later today. Who will take home the coveted National Capital History Day trophy this year?
